Klimenko V. V.
Leading lab employee

Klimenko Vladimir Viktorovich, Candidate of Phys.-Math. Sci., Senior Researcher, Laboratory for Ozone Layer and Upper Atmosphere Research. Since 1975 he has been working as a researcher at the Laboratory for Mathematical Modeling of Ionospheric Processes at the Kaliningrad Branch of IZMIRAN.

He is one of the creators of the Global Self-Consistent Model of the Thermosphere, Ionosphere and Protonosphere (GSM TIP), who developed a block for calculating electric fields in the Earth's ionosphere and a block for calculating the parameters of the F-region of the ionosphere and protonosphere. Participated in the development of the EAGLE model of the entire atmosphere, covering heights from the Earth's surface to near space.

He was the initiator and actively participated in the unification of the GSM TIP model with the models of the Global Electric Circuit and the magnetosphere. Participated in the development and testing of an empirical model of the Main Ionospheric Trough (MPT), built on the basis of satellite data.

Research interests: numerical modeling of processes in the ionosphere and plasmasphere, electric fields and their effects in the Earth's ionosphere, ionospheric effects of disturbances of various nature (substorms, geomagnetic storms, solar eclipses and flares, sudden stratospheric warmings),

He has more than 100 scientific articles in peer-reviewed domestic and foreign scientific publications and a large number of reports at various scientific conferences and seminars both in Russia and abroad.
